King George V and Queen Mary review the Canadian Division, 1915
Photo taken on February 4 1915 on Salisbury Plain, England. The King is reviewing 300 000 troops of the Canadian Division prior to their departure for France, surrounded by Canadian officers. The reverse of the photo is stamped “Geo. Collard, Press Photographer, 19, Hartfield Crescent, Wimbledon, S.W. 19”. The original belonged to my great grandfather Frank H.C. Briggs, who was a dentist in the Royal Army Dental Corps.
Hamilton, ON 1854
A view of Hamilton, Canada West, from the mountain, 1854. Hand-coloured lithograph by Edwin Whitefield (1816-1892).
You can clearly see they are overlooking the harbour area from the mountain. Obviously today you would see the skyway also.
